This Live-Work building is situated on a steep slope in the heart of Presidio, San Francisco. The client for this project is an entomologist, which is a scientist conducting studies on insects. The insect in focus is the honey bee, which the facility is designed explicitly for by providing space for breeding honey bees and conducting research on how to prevent common diseases that can occur within beehives. This building also incorporates a dwelling space separated from the research programs by a grand staircase.
